THE AVIS DIFFERENCE

Good work starts with a clear plan.

We look at the house, the site, the permit path, and the work behind the finishes before we price the project.

WHAT WE DO

One company for the inside and the space beyond it.

From a measured deck rebuild to a full home transformation, the work starts with the same thing: understanding what your property can support and what you want it to do.

Original exterior stair platform before rebuild
Before · original platform
Finished composite exterior stairs with black railing
After · finished rebuild

When the access is wrong, rebuild the way in.

This exterior stair rebuild replaced a tired metal platform with a safer, cleaner route to the yard—composite treads, a black railing, and a finished underside that belongs with the house.

FROM FIRST WALKTHROUGH TO FINAL

There is a right order to building well.

Clear decisions early protect the budget later. You always know what is being decided, who owns the next step, and what happens before the walls close.

STEP 01

Walk the actual space

We look at the panel, foundation, drains, structure, access, and the way you want the home to work.

STEP 02

Write the scope

Your ideas become a written plan with inclusions, allowances, decisions, and a clear next step.

STEP 03

Design and permit

Plans, engineering, submittal, corrections, and inspections are handled before structural work begins.

STEP 04

Build and close out

Protection, trades, inspections, finishes, punch list, final walkthrough, and warranty all stay connected.

WHERE WE WORK

Local work needs local knowledge.

San Jose and the cities around it do not share one permit counter or one kind of house. We plan around the actual property and the jurisdiction it sits in.

QUESTIONS WORTH ASKING

Before you start, get the useful answers.

A good contractor should make the decisions clearer, not make you feel rushed. Here are the questions homeowners ask us first.

How do I know if my project needs a permit?

Structural, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, most raised decks, ADUs, and additions commonly require permits. The exact answer depends on the address, scope, and city department. We review that path before work begins rather than treating it as an afterthought.

What happens during the first consultation?

We walk the actual property, talk through what you want to change, inspect the conditions that affect the work, and explain what the next step would be. The in-home consultation is free and does not obligate you to proceed.

Can one contractor handle indoor remodeling and outdoor work?

Yes. A single general contractor can coordinate the structure, trades, finishes, permits, and the seams between the house and the yard. That matters when a kitchen, new door, deck, drainage detail, or exterior wall all meet in the same project.

How do you handle changes during construction?

Changes should be described, priced, and agreed in writing before the work is performed. A clear scope and allowance schedule make it easier to tell the difference between a scope change and work that was already included.
